Lead Mechanical Design Engineer | £36,000 – £46,000 per year

    Responsibilities will include

    • Being responsible for small and medium size engineering projects with minimal supervision.
    • You will have regular consultation to progress larger size projects with other members of the team.
    • You will be able to contribute with N.P.I. (New Product Introduction) projects, from concept to production handover.
    • You will ensure designs are functional, safe and cost effective, while maintaining the expected quality & QHSE standards.
    • Be responsible for implementing changes to improve productivity, quality and cost.
    • Ensuring technical files for new installations are complete in accordance with Machinery Directives and be able to produce concise written specifications which give all information necessary for procurement of required proprietary parts.
    • You will be maintaining Design Office records in accordance with Company procedures.

    Qualifications and skills required:

    • Minimum – Degree or HND/HNC in a relevant discipline (e.g. mechanical engineering) – Ideally a Chartered Engineering Qualification
    • Proven experience within Mechanical design with design engineering background
    • Experience on aluminium and iron castings, sheet metal, close tolerance machining
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA), stress calculation, bearing system design
    • Ideally some exposure to diesel engine & electric motor installations, and fluid dynamic and centrifugal pump design experience & experience in plastic mouldings (rotational, injection & vacuum forming)
    • It would help your application if you had experience on Vault professional, AutoCAD 2D & Autodesk Inventor


    • Salary: £36,000 – £46,000/yr
