    One of Southampton’s leading companies, specializing in the design and manufacture of specialist equipment for the Subsea industry, is looking to expand their team. They are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.


    As a Mechanical Design Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

    • CAD Design: Utilize CAD software to create concept designs and produce technical drawings.
    • Manufacturing Liaison: Communicate effectively with manufacturing providers to ensure design specifications are met.
    • Product Assembly: Participate in the final assembly of products to guarantee quality and functionality.
    • Documentation: Prepare necessary design documentation, project reports, and plans.
    • Model and Drawing Updates: Maintain and update 3D models and drawings to reflect design changes.
    • MRP System: Input parts and create Bill of Materials (BOMs) in the MRP system.
    • Drawing Sign-off: Review and approve drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
    • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively in a small, multi-disciplinary team on a variety of projects.


    To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

    • Educational Background: Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
    • Professional Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a design or mechanical engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
    • Specialized Experience: Proficiency in working with welded products and fabricated parts.
    • Industry Knowledge: Ideally, experience in the Subsea industry or similar fields such as Oil & Gas, Aerospace, or Marine.
    • CAD Proficiency: Skilled in using 3D CAD software like SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar tools.
    • Mechanical Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of core mechanical engineering principles and tight tolerances.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Technical Skills: Competent in using MS Office suite.
    • Organizational Skills: Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
    • Team and Independent Work: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
